About Me
For the last few years, this quote has been stuck to my easel.
'She never looked nice. She looked like art, and art wasn't supposed to look nice; it was supposed to make you feel something'
That has been my main motivator when creating, more than anything I want to make work that makes my audience feel something, when they look at/experience my art.
I am the kind of person that is very all or nothing, and I believe my paintings have that quality about them too, they are full. Hopefully of emotion and atmosphere but the most clear is colour. I love using vivid colours to accentuate the portrait I am painting and to highlight and influence the mood of the piece.
I am a self taught artist, so my education has been through trial and error. Beginning with digital art in 2020 I challenged myself to draw everyday for a year. I got to 7 months before my tablet died which abruptly stopped my progress.
Though continuing with digital art to some degree, my attention was drawn back to physical art (of which I dabbled with in 2016) and the progress of that is what you see today!
Right now I am focusing on creating things that bring me joy and one thing that I have noticed is I really love painting people when they are their happiest, I love seeing the look in their eyes that shows the true joy they are experiencing and trying to replicate that in my paintings through not only the look on the face but the vividness of the abstract elements that I create the painting with.
